The first snow of the year? Election Day? Thanksgiving? Hey, let’s not lose sight of what’s important, now: OUR CD RELEASE SHOW!!!

We are really excited (note CAPS used to intimate shouting in previous sentence) to present our new EP “Sharing A Head” live at Cafe Montmartre on Friday November 14. We’ll be performing the whole record- plus some AC/DK classics- all with a full band, all plugged in and everything, and we would love to see you there!

Also performing with their bands will be rising star Garrett Ramquist and pop superhero Mark Croft (check them out at
myspace.com/garrettramquist and markcroftmusic.com). It’s going to be a night of great music at a very cool venue- 100% fun with absolutely no filler!

Critics (every)where are saying “If…you see one show)… this season, it…should… [be] the Sha(ring A H)ead [CD Release at the Mo(mo)...] (!!!)”. Could they really all be wrong? Seriously, all of them? All wrong? Not likely.

Find out for yourself….

Radio, Radio

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Our soon-to-be-released EP “Sharing A Head” is getting some airplay across the country! Now you can support local, independent, and college radio… and us! Here’s how: Step 1. Turn on radio (presumably already tuned to your fave independent local station). Step 2. Sit back and listen, glowing with the satisfied glow of a bona fide Patron of the Arts who is both glowingly satisfied and satisfiedly glowing with glowy satisfaction. And to think, you made it happen by calling in that massive pledge during the station’s pledge drive and buying all of our records (don’t forget the back catalogue- you did mail those checks out, right?).

Special thanks to KSCL Shreveport and WKDU Philadelphia!

Enjoy this message, because I’m sure the next one will be crafted by my personal assistant while I screen my calls in a darkened penthouse suite somewhere in London.

Still accessible to the general public,
Dan

Fun with Steve and Jim

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Madison Songwriters Group has gotten the SIR (Songwriters in the Round) series going again, and last week we got to share the stage with Steve Schad and Jim Schwall, two fantastic Madison writers. Ancora was on fire! Thankfully, the fire was quickly extinguished due to some fast thinking patrons who formed an espresso cup brigade. No one was injured.

Next week we kick off our “Summer of the Markets” tour of farmers markets of south central Wisconsin. What could be better than listening to some sweet panoptic pop while shopping the market, and then feeling that sense of well-being that accompanies the sound of large-denomination bills landing in an open guitar case? Ahhh, summer.

Crossroads, Cross Plains, Cross-Pollination, Cross Purposes, Cross-Hatch It Off Your List Because You Missed It.

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

We had a great time last Friday at the Crossroads Cafe in Cross Plains with the eminently overqualified Nancy Rost and Dave Schindele. The words were a cascade of tumbling water, and the water was some kind of crazy super-water with super-amazing flowability power! (I know, !!!) Putting the analogies aside for a moment like a child’s toys at the dawn of adolescence (that was a simile- pay attention!), we really enjoyed playing to a room packed full of friendly faces including some fellow MSG members and Fawmers. Lots of new songs were played, lots of old songs were played, old friends were embraced, new friends were smiled quizzically at (are we supposed to hug now, or shake hands, or…), Joe the sound guy was great, Mary the owner was great (she’s my current pick for nicest venue owner ever), and Amy got Nancy to do “Golden Gate”- what more could we have wanted? Alright, sure, if you want to get technical, sure, that would have been nice, but realistically, I mean, come on. Anyhoo, if you were there, thanks for being there, if not, what was your name again? But seriously, folks, not to worry, just keep checking back here or at myspace.com/curlkennedy for more show dates and news about the developing plans for the release show for the new EP.
Until we meet again,
Dan

Busy Little Leprechaun

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

It’s been a busy time for us, but not for US, if you know what I mean… and I think you do! Overt duo activity has been low as we get geared up to release our new EP (more details soon- keep checking back), but that is no excuse to sit at home just pining for us. We can be seen all over town in one of our many other disguises. Dan has been spotted hiding behind an electric guitar in 21st Century Jones, the Mark Croft Band, and the Getaway Drivers, while Amy fans had many chances to catch our aforementioned “busy little leprechaun” singing with Navan and new venture Tairis, especially
during this past weekend’s celebrations of the rich, green tapestry that is Irish culture! More Amy and Dan shows are coming soon, I promise!!! Meanwhile, if you’re not getting your RDA of smarty panoptic pop, just navigate on over to itunes or cdbaby and download “In An Orderly Fashion”. The $5 will soon be forgotten, and the soothing music will be yours forever……..

Books, Company, and Grounds of a Higher Nature

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Did some laundry last night. That same weird lady followed me out of the laundromat again mumbling “unbalanced load, too many socks,” or something like that. Oh, wait, this is not the laundry journal!

Okay, so we played at Books and Co in Oconomowoc (spell that ten times fast), and the lady from the laundromat followed us in, mumbling… alright, there was no weird lady, just a room full of nice and attentive music fans hanging on our every word. I’m getting to like these acoustic shows.

We also recently played the Higher Grounds Coffeehouse, held in the beautiful sanctuary of the Living Waters Church in Sun Prairie. We were blessed with a nice crowd, great behind-the-scenes people (thanks Jay and Brian!), and the quick wits to edit some of our “adult” lyrics for the all-ages crowd. Adult lyrics? Amy and Dan? Yes, it’s true. Hear them for yourself on our ep “In An Orderly Fashion,” available at shows or through www.cdbaby.com. Get it soon, the first pressing is almost sold out! Here endeth the plug.

Until we virtually meet again,
Dan

Tazzina et Graduina

Friday, December 21st, 2007

A small but very enthusiastic crowd braved blizzard conditions to welcome us to Jo’s Tazzina last Saturday. We played all of our hits and topped the whole thing off with the entire first act of Carmen. Or maybe it was just Eric Carmen. I was both snow blind and snow deaf at the time.

In personal news, I graduated from MATC Thursday night and celebrated by racing off to play a 21st Century Jones show at Mr Robert’s. Whats that? No, not a doctorate. No, no, not a masters, just getting generals out of the way with an AA. Next step: just to figure out where to go to finish the BA. And what to finish it in. You may be thinking “aren’t you a little old for college?” Fair enough, as I am thinking “aren’t you a little big for those pants?”

Kisses!
Dan
